The advent of men in the beauty industry

Thanks to social media, a new type of job is born. In fact, we can now see that influencer are a part of a new era on social media. At the beginning of these jobs, the platform Youtube highlighted some girls from all around the world for their makeup, hair and beauty tutorials. But, this emergence spread out in other domains like travel, lifestyle, tattoo, food.

Initially, this industry was exclusively feminine and even more in beauty. But, we can now see that there is a lot of men who emerge in the beauty environment. For instance, James Charles and Jeffree Star, are two American influencers who make makeup tutorials for men and women on Youtube. Jeffrey Star has over 17 million followers on Youtube just like James Charles. They are deconstructing gender stereotypes which are still overly present in our society.

They give beauty advice and are engaged in different causes like feminism and gender rights. Indeed, they used social media as a springboard for their career and work now for famous beauty brands. Those influencers launched their makeup brand and are recognized in the beauty industry. They are also appreciated by the population and their followers as far as they embody different values like self-love and respect of the difference.

This emergence is due to social media, which have highlighted those men. A couple of years ago, our society considered beauty and makeup as something feminine and men were not concerned but a change started and men made their place in the beauty industry. We are in a hurry to see how men will evolve in the beauty industry through social media.
